Please note: This article refers to projects and specifications throughout; the same statements also apply to master folders and masters.
Each permission can do the following:
| Project or Master Administrator* | Full control of all elements in a project, including documents, users and permissions. - Can create, edit and delete specifications.
- Can mark items as complete.
- Can copy whole specifications into the project.
- Can add, remove and change the permissions of team members on the project.
- Can publish specifications and reports in the project.
- Can add spec notes. Can delete the spec notes from other users, but cannot edit them.

| Contributor* | Can edit the specifications already set up in a project.- Can edit existing specifications set up in the project.

- Can copy parts of specifications.
- Can publish specifications and reports in a project.
- Can make model associations.
- Cannot add or delete specifications.
- Cannot copy whole specifications into the project.
- Cannot add, remove or change the permissions of team members on the project.
- Can add spec notes. Can edit and delete their own spec notes.

| Designer | Can coordinate the specification and model by making associations. Can view specifications already set up with limited editing permission. - Limited editing of existing specifications set up in the project.
- Can edit the article, clause and section 'Code', 'Prefix', 'Title', and 'Suffix' only. Reader permission for everything else.
- Cannot edit the article/ clause/ section rows.
- Cannot mark items as complete/incomplete.
- Cannot add to the spec.
- Cannot change the Summary schedule checkbox.
- Cannot delete or park in the spec.
- Can publish specifications and reports in a project.
- Can make model associations.
- Cannot add or delete specifications.
- Cannot copy whole specifications into the project.
- Cannot add, remove or change the permissions of team members on the project.
- Can add spec notes. Can edit and delete their own spec notes.

| Reader | Can view specifications already set up in a project.- Can view existing specifications set up in the project but cannot edit them.
- Can publish specifications and reports in a project.
- Cannot add or delete specifications.
- Cannot add, remove or change the permissions of team members on the project.
- Cannot make model associations.
- Can add spec notes. Can edit and delete their own spec notes.

| Limited | Limited users have no access to specifications inside a project by default, but can access the top-level project dashboard.- Can open specifications they have been given reader permission and above.
- Can publish specifications that they have permission to see.
- The team members tab of the project is hidden.

*Please note: if someone with ‘Project administrator’ or ‘Contributor’ permission signs in with the Designer role, their permission is reduced to the Designer level.
