Roles enable teams involved in model development and specification to collaborate effectively. The ‘Designer’ role grants users access to the specification platform, allowing them to coordinate model information and specifications, but not the ability to make edits. The ‘Writer’ role is for developing projects and masters, and managing your organization. Both roles can view the specification 'Guidance' and add 'Spec notes'. This article explains the role and permission levels in more detail.

Designer – the Designer role is for users who mainly coordinate and synchronize model information with the specification, but don’t require permission to edit or write specification content. This allows organizations with users who tend to focus on model development, and who only need to read and understand the context of the specification without editing its content, to grant permission to annotate references in drawing sheets and outputs with specification 'Associations'.

Writer – the Writer role is for users who need to author specification content, and/ or users who manage their 'Organization settings' and 'Org notes'.
