You can publish your specifications and produce sections and systems to separate MS Word or PDF files, one file per section. This article explains how to publish 'Separate sections' and 'Separate systems'.

How to publish 'Separate sections'

To produce your specification to separate documents:

  1. Go to your specification and click the 'Publish specification' or 'Actions' button. 
  2. On the 'Structure' step, under 'Choose an output structure', select 'Separate sections' or 'Separate systems'.

    Please note that the button is called 'Separate systems' or 'Separate groups' for Uniclass work sections-based specifications.

  3. Complete the 'Publish specification' wizard.


How to publish 'Separate systems' for 'Uniclass - work sections' specifications

To produce your specification to separate documents:

  1. Go to your specification and click on 'Publish specification' or 'Actions' button. 
  2. On the 'Structure' step, select 'Single systems' or 'Group systems by code' depending on your preference.
  3. On the 'Structure' step, select 'Separate systems' or 'Separate groups'.

  4. Complete the 'Publish specification' wizard.


'Uniclass - Work section' specifications can be published as 'Single systems' or 'Grouped systems by code'. When these are paired with 'Separate systems' and 'Separate groups', this is what happens:

  • 'Single systems' with 'Separate systems' – each 'addable' (i.e. Systems or orphaned Products) will be published as a separate MS Word/ PDF file.
  • 'Group systems by code' with 'Grouped systems' – each group will publish as a separate MS Word/ PDF file.


Publish notifications and zip files

The 'Notifications panel' will show when your documents have been published as separate files, each with its own file-type symbols for .zip, Word, and PDF. 


When you publish separate documents, the platform produces a single .zip file containing all of them.
