Warning: Please read this carefully. Deleting linked clause can create hidden broken links.
In Uniclass work sections, clauses can be linked to each other. For more information on how to add a clause link, see the Suggestions support article.
If you park a linked clause, you will see this risky action confirmation message:
What do I do if see this message?
- Go to each clause in the list and remove the link to the clause you want to park.
- If you select all the clauses listed in the message, you can copy them to the clipboard (Ctrl + v, or right click + Copy). You can then paste them into notepad as a to do list.
- Search the guidance for any links to the clause you want to park, and remove those references.
- Once all the cross-references are removed, you can safely park the clause.
What happens if I publish a bundle with broken clause links?
Any broken clause links will be published to the customer. When they try to select that clause from the suggestions menu, no clause will be added.
Currently, don’t have any software process to prevent this.
Known limitations
- We currently don’t have broken link warnings for clause links. In future, we hope to:
- Introduce the same kind of warning you currently see for broken reference document links and badly formed hyperlinks.
- Update the screen check report to include broken clause links.
