In the classic tools, when you checked a section back into TCS, it would create an incremented version snapshot.
In Chorus, we can do something similar.
Create a revision automatically
When you move the bundle onto the next stage, Chorus will automatically create a revision. For more on how to change stage, see Stages.
- Change the stage of your bundle.
- A new revision is shown in the Publish history tab
- The revision title matches the name of the stage you changed to.
- Where possible, the revision number will increment.
- If this is the first revision for this bundle, the number will be 1.
- If other revisions have already been created for this bundle with whole numbers, the new revision will take the next whole number in sequence.
- If there isn’t a whole number sequence to follow, the number will be left blank.
Create a revision manually
The Publish history tab is a customer-facing feature. When customers publish their specs or masters to Word or PDF, they can choose to save that publication to the publish history.
If you want to manually create a bundle revision, you can also use the publish to Word or PDF route.
For more on creating revisions manually, see the customer-facing article Revisions – an overview.
Edit revision details
You can edit the revision details for any revision.
- Go to the Publish history tab.
- Find the row of the revision whose details you wish to edit.
- At the right end of the row, select the 3 dots to open the menu:
- Select Edit details. The Edit publication details dialog box will open.
- In the Edit publication details dialog box, make the changes you need:
The only two required fields are Publication title and Filename. You can leave the other fields blank if you wish. - Select Save to save your changes. The dialog box will close and the Publish history will be updated with your changes:
Publish a revision to Word or PDF
Once a revision is listed in the publish history, you can recreate it as a Word or PDF document at any time.
See the customer-facing article Recreate publication.
Delete a revision
See the customer-facing article How to delete items from the Publish history.
Known limitations
- Currently, when a revision is created automatically, the publish history shows an error icon at the end of the row. This does not mean that there is an error with your revision. We hope to be able to remove the icon in due course.
- You cannot roll a bundle back to an earlier version. If you want to return to a previous state, you currently have to make those changes by hand.
