Inserts are used to create editable zones within the clause structure. The customers can make their own changes and customise the clause to meet their specific needs.

You can use inserts in 2 ways:

  • To add authored suggestions.
    The customer will see the suggestions as a drop down list of options:

 


  • In sentence-style rows, an empty insert will create a blank space for the customer to add their own text:

Note: Any changes you make to inserts or suggestions will only be saved when you press the Save button to the right of the clause title.
Note: By default, the value part of a property/value row is editable to the customers. You only need to add an empty insert you’re then going to add authored suggestions.  


How to add an insert

  1. Choose either:
    1. A property/value pair row without an insert;
      or
    2. A place within the black text of a sentence-style row.
  2. Open the 3 dot menu at the left end of the row.
  3. From the menu, select Add an insert.

 

For property/value pair rows, a pale blue insert will be added to the value part of your row:

 

For sentence-style rows, a pale blue insert will be added your row:

 

How to delete an insert

For sentence-style rows:

  1. Select the space immediately after the insert and select the Backspace button on the keyboard.
    or
    Select the space immediately before the insert and select the Delete button on the keyboard.
  2. To save your changes, press Save to the right of the clause title.

For property/value pair rows:

  1. Select the insert you want to edit. The Edit suggestions dialog box will open.
  2. Delete all the suggestions in the list.
  3. To save your changes, press Close on the dialog box and then press Save to the right of the clause title.
Note: Currently it is not possible to delete inserts from property/ value pair rows.

Note: For property/ value pair rows: When the bundle is published, any empty inserts and any rows with no inserts will be treated the same - the customer will not see a menu on that row.

Note: Deleting the insert will not fully delete the suggestions behind the scenes, and they will still be released to customers. This is a known limitation.

Known limitations

Currently it is not possible to:

  • Save suggestions changes in the Edit suggestions dialog box.
  • Delete inserts from property/value pair rows.
  • Switch off the default suggestions feature for individual content sets.
  • Add contractor action suggestions to: 
    • Rows other than 'Manufacturer', Supplier' and 'Supplied by'. 
    • Content sets other than CAWS Work Sections, Australia & UK Uniclass Work Sections
  • In some scenarios, add an insert to a new indented row without saving the clause first.
  • Delete all suggestions by deleting the insert. Deleting the insert will not fully delete the suggestions behind the scenes and they will still be released to customers.
