Key points about 'Spec notes' permissions

  • Anyone accessing the specification can record a specification 'Spec note'.
  • Anyone accessing the specification can see a 'Spec notes' which has been set as a 'Shared note'.
  • You may respond to another 'Spec note'.
  • You can edit and remove your own 'Spec note'.
    • If you delete a note that has replies, you will delete all replies, including those from other users.
  • 'Project administrators' are able to remove the 'Spec note' from other users, but they cannot edit any notes aside from their own.

Who can see 'Spec notes'?

'Spec notes' are visible in the context of the specification against which they have been saved. So to see a 'Spec note', you first need to have 'Reader' permission (or above) to the specification. If someone is excluded from seeing the specification, they will not see any notes against it (as they won't see the spec).

A 'Spec note' can also be set as an 'Internal note'. 'Internal notes' are only visible to members of the organization hosting the specification. Please see ‘Shared notes’ and ‘Internal notes’.
