'Guests' are defined as users who have been invited to collaborate on your projects but are not organization users. This role is intended for external collaboration with third parties such as consultants.
In certain cases, it may be necessary to let a guest copy spec content from your organization to theirs, such as during novation or when copying specifications from a manufacturer.
By default, 'Guests' cannot copy content from projects or masters to their organization. To permit this, you need to check the ‘Guests can copy specification content to another organization’ box in both the 'Edit project' and 'Edit master' sections. This setting must be enabled individually for each project and master.
Only Project and Master Administrators can access the 'Edit project' and 'Edit masters' areas and change the ‘Enable guests to copy specification content’ setting.
When the setting is checked, guests can copy content from the project or master to another organization.
When the setting is unchecked, guests cannot copy and will get an error message that says ‘Insufficient permissions to copy across organizations.'
The setting does not prevent organization users from copying out of the organization and pasting into another one, provided that they have the necessary permissions.
