Publication details
The 'Publication details' step in the publishing process allows you to choose whether or not to save what you are publishing now to the 'Publish history' and define what version of the specification you are publishing.
You can enter plain text into the 'Publication details' or use 'Variables'. 'Variables' are helpful when you are publishing your specification with 'Separate sections' and 'Separate systems'
See Entering 'Variables' into the 'Publication details'.
The information you enter here will be presented on the specification cover page (if you are using the 'Default stylesheet template'). It will also appear in the 'Revision history' section/ system separator pages.
The 'Save to Publish history' field allows you to choose whether or not to save what you are publishing now to the 'Publish history'. This is a required field. Choosing to save to the publish history allows you to subsequently:
- Download or re-publish previously saved specifications from the 'Publish history' tab.
- Compare what you are publishing now with a previous version of the specification saved to the 'Publish history' and show revisions.

You can define what it is you are publishing by entering information into the following fields:
| Publication title | This could be the title of the specification or a work package title. |
| Publication number | This could be the work package number. |
| Publication status | e.g. Draft / For Review / Tender or the ISO 19650 status code e.g. S0 to S7. |
| Publication revision | e.g. v1, v1.1, End of week 23 or the ISO 19650 revision e.g. P01, P02 and so on. |
| Publication notes | Put the meaning of the status and revision codes into plain language in the notes (e.g. stage approval, internal issue, issue for information only…). Anything meaningful to you, that's not covered by the other fields, that helps you remember why this particular version of this document was printed. |
| Filename | The name you want to give the .docx or .pdf file. |
