For this article, a 'Template' clause is a clause classified in Uniclass that NBS has not authored. This article explains how to convert a template clause into an NBS-authored clause.

Template clauses in bundles

Template clauses are shown in the bundle editor. A 'template' icon is shown in the clause suffix.

It will also have a generic set of clause rows.

Converting a template clause into an authored clause

If a template clause has been edited within a bundle:

  • The author is expected to remove the emoji from the suffix.
  • Bundle changes grid and preview shows the changes.

When the bundle is deployed:

  • Any edited templates that do not have the emoji in the suffix are converted into authored clauses.
  • If the author leaves the emoji in the suffix, no changes to the template clause are deployed.

Best practice

When converting a template clause into an authored clause, please edit the existing template by removing the icon from the suffix as previously described. Please do not create a new clause first; this will result in duplication and prevent specifiers from receiving the correct update notifications for the template clause in their specifications.

However, please see the known issue(s) below regarding existing duplication in the content set.

Known issues

  1. Duplicates in the content set, 28 October 2024.
There are template and authored versions of clauses in the content set, which means you will encounter duplicates when adding that section to a bundle.
At the moment, Authors cannot resolve this themselves. However, the Dev team are working on a way to remove these via a bundle update. Please see Uniclass 'Template' clauses - removing them from the content set
