An issue has been identified with section level updates between the dates of 24/04/24 and 04/06/2024 in any 'UK - CAWS Work section' and 'UK - CAWS Preliminaries' based content sets. This issue specifically impacts the clauses within these content sets.
This article sets out the issue, clauses and specifications affected, what is being done to fix it, and how it may impact your specifications.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Issue
This issue impacts clauses from 'UK - CAWS Work section' and 'UK - CAWS Preliminaries' based content sets. If a user has accepted a section level update between the dates of 24/04/24 and 04/06/2024, updated clauses within that section will still appear in the 'Updates' tab, but they will not have a section code (e.g. F10) before the clause code. Accepting the section level update will have orphaned these clauses, which renders them no longer visible in the ‘Updates’ tab, and therefore, no longer visible in the ‘Contents’ or the published output. These orphaned clauses will still show in the ‘Updates’ tab until a decision is made against them.
For all intents, these clauses in the 'Updates' tab can be ignored.
This is an image of clauses missing their section code. Their section code should be listed in front of their clause code.
Clauses and specifications affected
- This issue was noticed on June 4, 2024.
- This impacts both the ‘UK – CAWS Work section' and 'UK - CAWS Preliminaries' content sets with updates accepted between April 24th and June 4th, 2024.
How this impacts your specification
Any clauses that appear in the ‘Update’ tab without a parent section are orphans that will not be visible in either the main content editor or the published output. As such, any update decision made for them will not have an impact on the wider specification other than hiding them from the ‘Update’ tab.
If you have opted to recreate missing content affected by the original section issue, then these orphan clauses can be hidden by selecting the ‘Ignore changes’ option.
Next Steps
As a user, you can either bring the section in again and effectively reauthor it, or you can request that we attempt a data fix to restore the affected content. If you pursue the second option of requesting a data fix and we are able to restore the content for you, then the cause of this child issue will also be resolved.
We apologise for this inconvenience. If you cannot re-author the missing sections or would like us to attempt restoring the content for you, please contact support@theNBS.com.
