Variable management

Work is ongoing to provide a safe update route for variables.  

If your work is being blocked by a need to update variables, please contact the development team.

Known limitations

• Administrators can currently change content set variables. 
  • We intend to change extend the permissions model so that variables cannot be freely edited by anyone working in bundles. 
• Changing a variable name will break that variable in all locations. 
  • When any bundle that uses that variable is published to customers, the reusable text will be missing. 
• Changing a variable value will change it in all locations in all active bundles. 
  • The change will be only be visible to customers when the bundle is published. 
  • If content that contains the updated variable is not republished, the customers will continue to see the old value in that location.
