Bundle notes work in much the same way as spec notes do for the customers. For details, see the main Chorus introduction to spec notes.

However, there are some differences in bundles.

What should I use bundle notes for?

You can use bundle notes in a similar way to how you might use comments in Word:

  • Add a commentary for your colleagues, e.g. Copy-editor or Editor/QA feedback.
  • Reply to other people’s notes, e.g. to reply to feedback from the Copy-editors or the Editor/QA team.
  • Make to do notes for yourself, e.g. “Yesterday I got to here!”.
  • Bundle notes have their own toolbar, so you can add formatting for emphasis. You can also paste in images copied in from elsewhere such as snipping tool.

Add a section note

Use section notes to comment on whole section issues, and the general guidance.

  1. Select the section title, to check it out to you.
  2. In the right hand panel, select the Bundle notes tab.
  3. At the top of the bundle notes panel, you’ll see section title and code. This confirms that the note will be added against the section.

  4. In the box at the bottom of the bundle notes panel, add your note.
  5. To save your note, select the Send button.
Your note will be added to the collection of notes for the section.

Add a heading note

To add a note to a heading, follow the same process as for a section note, but with the heading selected:

Note: You cannot add a note to any automatic, non-authored headings. For example, the Clauses heading that is shown when there is no authored heading above the first authored clause. Read more information about this, read the support article on headings

Add a clause note

To add a note to a clause, follow the same process as for a section note, but with the clause selected:

Add a note to a property/value pair row

  1. Select the row.
  2. Select the 3 dots to the left of the row.
  3. In the menu, select Add a note to this row:

  4. In the right hand notes panel, the box at the bottom of the panel will now include the row title, e.g. Add note toRequirement:

Bundle notes grid

All the notes in the bundle are listed in the table on the bundle notes tab:

This list shows:

  • Title: A link to the section or clause that the note is against.
  • Notes: The start of the note is shown, so that you can start to get a feel for the content.
  • Name: The person who created the note.
  • Last edited: The timestamp of when this note was last edited.

Bundle notes in the bundle changes preview

In the bundle changes preview, the right hand column shows the notes for that section or clause.

The notes are shown in date added order – the same as we see in the bundle notes tab on the right hand side of the editor view.

You have the same notes features in the bundle changes preview as you have in the editor view, namely:

  • Create a bundle note.
  • Edit a bundle note.
  • Reply to a bundle note.
  • Delete a bundle note.

Known limitations

At the moment:

  • You’re all administrators, therefore you can all delete all notes. Please be careful when working with other people’s notes.
  • If you publish a bundle via the print route, the notes do not print.
  • Notes are not part of the change revision snapshot process. This means that when you look at a revision:
    • You will always see the latest version of the notes against every revision.
    • You will not see the notes as they were when the revision was taken.
  • Bundle notes cannot be converted into org notes.
    • In the future, we intend for org notes to be used for information that you want to carry over to the next time this content goes through the process.
  • Notes are listed in date order, by the date they were created.
  • You cannot currently add a note to:
    • A specific general guidance part. We advise that you state the title of the relevant general guidance part in the text of your note, or take and add a snip to the bundle note.
    • A sentence-style row. It will appear as though you can, but it will actually be added at the clause level.
    • An automatic heading, such as the default Clauses heading that appears at the top a section if there are clauses before the first authored heading.
    • A new unsaved row. The menu item Add a note to this row will be missing from the row menu. Once you save your clause changes, the menu item will become available.
  • Bundle notes grid:
    • When the note is against a clause, only the clause number is stated. The section code is missing.
    • When the note is against a row, only the clause number and title is stated. The row number and title are missing.
