We have recently introduced a ‘Draft’ state for brands. A draft state ensures that when brands are added to the NBS Partner Platform, the brand is not published immediately.

Why are we doing this?

Originally, brands added to the NBS Partner Platform were published immediately, meaning they appeared on Source with limited content. This is a poor experience for both specifier and the manufacturer, so to prevent an unsatisfactory view of a brand, we have implemented the draft state functionality for brands.

In doing so, we give the power back to the customer for when they would like to publish their brand. This means the customer can tailor company information and even hold off publishing the brand until products have been authored and approved, it’s now at their discretion.

How do I know if my brand is in a draft state?

If a brand is in a draft state, it will not be visible on NBS Source. In addition, when in the NBS Partner Platform, in the left-hand navigation panel, a message will indicate that the brand remains in a draft state. Once a brand is published, the message is removed and, when the user selects ‘Company>Overview’, a status indicator is visible at the head of the page reading ‘Draft’ – this will change to ‘Published’ once the brand is published.

How do I publish a brand?

To publish a draft brand, a user must enter the NBS Partner Platform, select ‘Company’ then ‘Overview’. Within this page there are several required fields that must be populated which are:

  • Company logo
  • Company name
  • Tagline
  • Description
  • Email address

Once these fields are populated, the option at the foot of the page ‘Save and publish’ will become active. Selecting this will confirm any changes and publish the product live on NBS Source.

Please note, while the brand is in a draft state, the feature website integration will not be available. Once the brand has been published, this will become active, and users can begin implementing the website integration on their site.

What happens with content I’ve published when the brand is in a draft state?

Until the brand is published, any item within the account such as products or associated content that have been marked as published will not appear on NBS Source, until the brand itself is published. At the point of publishing your brand, if there are items already marked as ‘published’, the user will receive a notification on screen informing them of any items that will also be published to NBS Source due to publishing the brand. In this scenario a case study would also be published once the brand goes live.

When the brand is in a draft state, users will receive the following notification at the point of marking items as published, so to clearly identify that those products are not live on NBS Source until the brand has been published.
