Setting up the Macro

  1. Download and unzip the Chorus_SplitFiles_UK.zip file attached to this article.
  2. Open MS Word and check the Developer tab is visible -


If this is not visible please follow this guide - Show the developer tab in Word - Office Support (microsoft.com)

  1. Select the Developer tab and select Visual basic (you can also use the keyboard shortcut ALT+F11)


  2. Within Microsoft Visual basics select the Normal option on the left


  3. Then click File and then Import and browse to the unzipped folder Chorus_SplitFiles_UK and select the file Chorus_SplitFiles_UK.bas and click Open
  4. Select File again and now click Save then close Microsoft Visual basics.
  5. Now the macro has been set up in Word you won’t need to repeat this part of the process when you next need to split the document.

 

Running the Macro

 

  1. Export the specification from NSB Chorus to MS Word.
  2. Open the published specification in Microsoft Word
  3. Select the Developer tab and select Visual basic (you can also use the keyboard shortcut ALT+F11)


  4. In Microsoft Visual Basics click the next to Normal then select the next to Modules and click on Chorus_SplitFiles_uk and select Run from the menu along the top and select Run Macro (F5 keyboard shortcut)


  5. The following window shall appear, ensure Chorus_SplitFiles_uk is highlighted and click Run


  6. This will then split the document by section and create both a .Docx and .PDF in the folder in which the specification is saved in.
