Setting up the Macro
- Download and unzip the Chorus_SplitFiles_UK.zip file attached to this article.
- Open MS Word and check the Developer tab is visible -
If this is not visible please follow this guide - Show the developer tab in Word - Office Support (microsoft.com)
- Select the Developer tab and select Visual basic (you can also use the keyboard shortcut ALT+F11)
- Within Microsoft Visual basics select the Normal option on the left
- Then click File and then Import and browse to the unzipped folder Chorus_SplitFiles_UK and select the file Chorus_SplitFiles_UK.bas and click Open
- Select File again and now click Save then close Microsoft Visual basics.
- Now the macro has been set up in Word you won’t need to repeat this part of the process when you next need to split the document.
Running the Macro
- Export the specification from NSB Chorus to MS Word.
- Open the published specification in Microsoft Word
- Select the Developer tab and select Visual basic (you can also use the keyboard shortcut ALT+F11)
- In Microsoft Visual Basics click the + next to Normal then select the + next to Modules and click on Chorus_SplitFiles_uk and select Run from the menu along the top and select Run Macro (F5 keyboard shortcut)
- The following window shall appear, ensure Chorus_SplitFiles_uk is highlighted and click Run
- This will then split the document by section and create both a .Docx and .PDF in the folder in which the specification is saved in.
