Within Source, every product has a 'Primary' classification and may also have one or more (secondary) classifications. In Source, the classifications are displayed under the 'General Information' heading on the product page.

Within the specification, classifications determine which articles, clauses and sections the product will be listed against in the 'Products' panel.

Uniclass classifications

If a product in Source has an associated Uniclass classification code, the code might refer to either a product clause or a system clause. The first two letters of the code are used to determine this. If the code starts with ‘Pr’, it indicates a product clause; if it starts with ‘Ss’, it indicates a system clause.

Within a Uniclass specification, a product clause is not generally specified in isolation, they are normally specified as part of one or more system clauses. Once a product clause has been added to the specifcation the system clause or clauses it belongs to can be viewed in the ‘Used by’ panel located at the bottom of the 'Guidance'.

Manufacturer application guidance

We encourage the specifier to consider the suitability of manufacturer products when they specify them. Lattira Spec, NBS Chorus and NBS Source help by supplying manufacturer 'Application' guidance. Specifiers should read the manufacturer's guidance to ensure that the product is suitable for use in that particular parent system.

For example, an insulation slab from a particular manufacturer may be suitable for a floor but not a wall.
