'Canada - NMS and CMS' specifications

When the manufacturer's product details are added to a 'Canada - NMS and CMS' specification, a new section will be added to the specification containing the manufacturer's data. The section code and title of this new section will be based on the product's classification data in Source.

Depending on the product being added, there may be extra details that need to be entered or options to be selected or removed. If unsure, please contact the manufacturer for help with specifying their product.

For all other content sets:

Applies to:

  • Australia - SpecPack, SpeedSpec or SureSpec
  • UK - CAWS and Uniclass
  • USA - USMS

Manufacturer product details, also referred to as manufacturer product data templates, can be added to articles and clauses.

The following minimum information is added:

In the 'Manufacturer' or 'System Manufacturer' row, the manufacturer name is added to this row. It is inserted as a permalink, which opens the manufacturer's homepage in Source.

Contact details rows, new rows are inserted as ‘Contact details’ (a parent heading row for the following), ‘Address’, ‘Telephone’, ‘Web’ and ‘Email’. These have the relevant contact information (where available) added into the new rows.

If any of the Address, Telephone, Web or Email rows are not required, they can be parked.

In the 'Product reference' row, the manufacturer's product reference/ product name is added to this row. It is inserted as a permalink, which opens the product page in Source. If the product reference row does not currently exist in the clause, it will be added as a new row.

Please note: If the product has different variants, the chosen variant is included in the clause, and the product reference row also shows the variant name.

Additional rows:

Product-specific rows, in addition to the rows for the minimum information as noted above, one or more further rows may also be added as part of the manufacturer's product data template. These are specific to the product being added.

Some such rows may remain empty, whilst others may be pre-populated with values.

The empty rows generally correspond to instances where there are multiple options which can be selected using the drop-down control located at the right-hand side of the row entry field.

The pre-populated rows generally correspond either to a technical characteristic of the product or where there is only a single option.

These rows, along with the product reference row, should all be reviewed together with the product listing in Source or the product details in the Products panel in Chorus, ensuring the correct option(s) are selected for any empty rows.
