Which content sets offer the financial summary?

The financial summary export works with all content sets.

However, it is aimed at content sets tailored to basic construction projects, where the work is of a simple nature and will be undertaken using a ‘small works’ standard form construction contract. Contracts for small works do not support the use of bills of quantities as pricing documents because the extra cost of preparation is not usually justified when the level of detail is not required.

As of September 2025, the 'Export financial summary' report is available for all content sets.

Prior to September 2025, it was only available for 'UK - CAWS Work sections', 'Australia - SpeedSpec', 'Australia - SpecPack' and 'Australia - SureSpec'.

Steps to export the financial summary

There are two ways of running the report. Before you begin, it is assumed you have already authored the specification sections.

To export the financial summary for the whole specification

  1. Open the project.
  2. Click on the kebab menu to the right-hand side of the specification title.
  3. Click 'Export financial summary'.

To export the financial summary for a selection of sections from the specification

  1. Open the project.
  2. Open the spec.
  3. Select the section(s) you want to include in the financial summary.
  4. Click the Actions menu and select 'Export financial summary'.

What is included in the Financial Summary export.

The platform exports an MS Excel-based report with two worksheets: Financial summary and All content.

'Financial summary worksheet'

This worksheet is intended to serve as the basis for a pricing document for tender purposes. It should be sent out digitally and received back digitally with costs included.

  • It lists all the sections in your selection.
  • There is a cost column. The currency symbol is driven by the currency set in the 'Project details'. If no currency has been set, it will default to GBP sterling (£).
  • As costs are entered into this worksheet, the total is calculated.

'All content worksheet'

This is a supplementary worksheet that contains a list of all the clauses in the selection. It is intended to allow you to copy so you can add individual clauses to the financial summary worksheet where you want to capture costs at a more granular level.

  • It lists all of the sections, parts and clauses in your selection.
