Failed to upload your custom stylesheet

Failed to upload: This file is not a .docx file

When a stylesheet is uploaded, the platform checks that the file is an MS Word .docx file. You will get this error if it is another type of file that has been renamed to be a .docx file. This is done to prevent malicious files from being uploaded as stylesheets.

Failed to upload: File is larger than 10 MB

Stylesheets must not exceed 10MB. If your stylesheet is larger than 10 MB, please review its contents. If it contains very high-resolution images, please reduce their size so the file is smaller than 10 MB and re-upload.

Security scan in progress...

When a stylesheet is uploaded, the platform performs an information security check on it. This step is expected and will only take a short amount of time. While the security scan is in progress, the stylesheet will not be displayed as an option to select in the print wizard.

/!\ Security scan found a virus. See help for more information

This error happens when a virus is found in the stylesheet being uploaded to the platform. In the stylesheets grid, the notes column will say ‘/!\ Security scan found a virus. See help for more information’.

Stylesheets with this state cannot be used for publishing, including test prints.

If you believe the file to be safe we recommend rescanning the file using your computer’s virus-checking software then re-uploading it. If the issue persists, please contact Customer Support.

/!\ Security scan timed out. See help for more information

This error happens when the stylesheet being uploaded to the platform cannot be scanned for viruses. The platform will attempt to scan the document for up to 20 minutes. After this time, the stylesheet status will change to ‘Security scan timed out’.

Stylesheets with this state cannot be used for publishing, including test prints.

We recommend rescanning the file using your computer’s virus-checking software, then re-uploading it. If the issue persists, please contact Customer Support.

Stylesheet issues

Unable to see a custom stylesheet from the ‘Styling’ step of the publish wizard

This can happen for several reasons. A stylesheet may not appear in the Publish wizard > Styling drop-down menu because:

  1. It is still being security scanned. The scan will normally only take a few moments but can run for up to 20 minutes. Organization admins can see the ‘state’ of the scan in the Organization settings > Stylesheets area.
  2. The stylesheet has not been activated. To test new stylesheets before they are made available to everyone, the Organization admin can publish with ‘active’ and ‘inactive’ stylesheets. Non-'Organization admins', will only see active stylesheets in the publish wizard.
  3. If you do not see the publish wizard at all, the organization may not subscribe to stylesheets. Stylesheets are available with Pro (and above) subscriptions.

Unable to publish specifications using your corporate font

Please note:
Corporate fonts will only appear when publishing the specification to MS Word. If publishing to .PDF the corporate fonts will be stripped out.

The 'Default stylesheet template' has been set to embed fonts in the file. If your stylesheet font is still not publishing with the correct corporate font please check that the stylesheet you are using has this setting selected.

  1. Go to the stylesheet in MS Word.
  2. Click on File > Options > Save.
  3. Select the checkbox 'Embed fonts in the file'.
  4. If the check box is unchecked, you will need to re-upload the stylesheet and re-test it. If that solves the problem, we recommend deleting the old stylesheet.

Tables are not being published with the correct styling

This tip covers two scenarios.

  • Published tables do not have any shading in the header cells.
  • Published tables are not following your intended table styles.

You should check that your stylesheet contains the table styles. Without the styles, the platform will publish the tables but cannot apply any styling.

Images added using Watermark publish as a different colour

We are aware of an issue that will cause the colour of an image to be published in a different shade of colour compared to the stylesheet template, e.g. light blue instead of dark blue.

This happens if the image has been added to the stylesheet as a 'watermark' and the image file is a JPG.

The issue is with JPG images as watermarks in templates that are converted from DOCX to PDF format. To avoid this, add the image using a different file format either TIFF and PNG format.
