Since iOS 13.4, using an iPad with the platform has gotten better. The update added native support for Bluetooth mice, making the iPad feel much more like a computer when paired with a Bluetooth keyboard.
How to set up a Bluetooth mouse on an iPad
Any Bluetooth mouse should work, including Apple’s Magic Mouse 2. First, ensure the mouse is unpaired from any previous computers. When ready to connect it to your iPad, turn on Bluetooth and set the mouse to pairing mode.
- Go to the settings app
- Press Bluetooth.
- Make sure Bluetooth is toggled on at the top.
- Put your mouse into pairing mode.
- Your device should appear under a header in the Bluetooth interface called Other Devices
- Press the name of your device.
- You might get a “Bluetooth Pairing Request.” If you do, press pair.
Your mouse should start functioning; if you see the new circular pointer, that indicates it is active.
You can customize your mouse experience by navigating to Settings > General > Trackpad and Mouse. There, you can adjust the tracking speed and select whether the Secondary Click (right-click) will be on the right or left side.
