This error is generated when attempting to open a section in NBS building or NBS Landscape. To Rectify this issue you will need to un-register and re-register the NBSSpecEditor.ocx file


To do this you can - 


Try to locate the following file NBSSpecEditor.ocx in can be in the following folders

        a.     C:\Windows\system32\

        b.    C:\Windows\sysWOW64\

2.     In the correct folder Open a command prompt as administrator

3.     Enter the following command

Regsvr32 NBSSpecEditor.ocx

4.     You should see a confirmation message.

5.     Test opening the spec.

 

If you still see the message

1.     Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\NBS

2.     In that folder Open a command prompt as administrator

3.     Enter the following command

Regsvr32 SpelliCtrl.ocx

4.     You should see a confirmation message.

 

If that doesn’t work

 

1.     uninstalling NBS Building

2.     manually deleting the files left behind in C:\Program Files (x86)\NBS\NBS Building\

3.     manually deleting the files left behind in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common\NBS\

4.     manually deleting these files

        C:\Windows\sysWOW64\NBSSpecEditor.ocx

        C:\Windows\sysWOW64\SpecData2.dll

5.     manually deleting these registry keys

        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BDS Ltd.\NBS Building

        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BDS Ltd.\NBS Specifier

 

6.     Reinstall

        a.     If it’s a network install

                                                      i.    Go to the network unpack location

                                                     ii.    Right-click on ClientInstall.exe

                                                    iii.    select run as admin

        b.    otherwise just double click on StandAloneInstall.exe
